Class Warfare—Here We Go Again

Where do people like Rep. Jan Schakowsky get the belief that we do not deserve to keep what we earn?

In my opinion there is no question as to whether I deserve MY earnings. There also isn’t a question of whether I should support my government or not…of course I should. The question is HOW much is ENOUGH? I suppose if I had the answer to THAT, I’d be one famous woman!

We also have people, such as Elizabeth Warren, who said no one in this country has ever gotten rich on his own. That your goods were moved to market on roads paid for by someone else; that your workers were educated in public schools supported by someone else; that your business or factory is safe because the police force is paid for by, yep, you guessed it… someone else!

Doesn’t Ms. Warren realize that even business owner’s pay taxes? Not only do they have local, state and federal taxes, they also have employer taxes. PLUS there are multiple business taxes, licenses and insurances!

I don’t think anyone will argue that people get rich solo. I do believe that people will tell you if they get rich it’s despite what our government imposes UPON them and they do it all under the eye of big brother in some form or another.

So, alone or all on our own…of course not.

It sure is a victory, though, when, after all the money is distributed, and all the legislative hands are filled, we can still achieve success!

  1. But at what point do WE, the wage earners stop??? Stop starting companies, stop hiring, stop drawing the big salary and just quit and live off SSA and our 401Ks??? Then what...

  2. Pam - You said... "There also isn’t a question of whether I should support my government or not…of course I should."

I know what you meant with this statement and in that vein I agree.

However, one must be very careful to ask the necessary questions,to hold their representatives and senators feet to the fire, to hold them accountable, and when necessary to engage in non violent acts of civil disobedience.

To support a government that is not responsive to the people, that attempts to usurp the individual citizens rights in the name of the collective, and who turns a blind rye and deaf ear to the very constitution this nations foundation rests on requires any such government of the nation to be NOT SUPPORTED.

fortunately we have not yet reached this point. Hopefully we never do. But in my opinion we are traversing down that very path.

Lead by progressives, RINO''s, and Neo-Cons.

    Just my opinion.

  3. Jan Schakowsky and Elizabeth Warren are two heroes fighting for the middle class. People will tell you if they get rich it's despite what our government imposes UPON them? "These people" are Republicans. Democrats wouldn't tell you that. I certainly would not.

  4. Government serves the coporate elite. NotPam, me, WD or RN.

The class warfare meme is just another ruse brought up by the RIGHT, to deflect the blame for a government that serves them to the left.

That people fall for it is a sad state for our country.

  5. Truth - Class warfare, or put another way, class envy, has been around a lot longer than we have. And it will be around a long time after we are gone.

So sayeth, damn, I must be getting old. Just can't seem to recall who said that. Oh well, whoever it was he or she was right.

  6. So now business owners pay payroll taxes? At one time the conservative argument was payroll taxes was money earned by the worker that was given to the government and if it wasn't taxed then the business owners would pay that as additional wages to the workers.

So, do the wage earners get credit for the 15.3% that is payroll taxes or do they only get credit for the 7.65% that comes out of their pay?

Sorry, when you start using the term "Job Creators" it is the RIGHT that has fired the first salvo in the war of the classes....

Yep RN, this Progressive would be glad to lead the masses into battle when the classes go to war!

Its time we respect work, workers, and wage earners and its time to return capitalism to the concept of supply and demand rather than continue down the path of fuedalism that started with the Reagan Revoluion's "supply side economics"

  7. Jan Schakowsky and Elizabeth Warren are heroes of the middle class in the same way Frank Perdue is a hero for chickens.

Tao said: "Its time we respect work, workers, and wage earners and its time to return capitalism to the concept of supply and demand"

That's Reagan's philosophy and conservatism right there.

  8. "and its time to return capitalism to the concept of supply and demand rather than continue down the path of feudalism"

TAO - No argument with that statement.

I guess our differences lay in the course we each believe should be taken.

I this may be because you didn't get that big government hand out you felt entitled to. Therefore you want to lead everybody in armed revolt so you can be part of the Leviathan elite and thereafter prosper "off the toil of the people" beyond your wildest imagination.

News flash buddy... It has been tried in several places. All were, as should have been expected BY THE PEOPLE, dismal failures. And guess what. The PEOPLE paid the price.

  9. "business owner’s pay taxes? Not only do they have local, state and federal taxes, they also have employer taxes. PLUS there are multiple business taxes, licenses and insurances!" Plus deductions
for business expenses, advertising, depreciation, travel,
    office supplies, insurance..even
dues to the chamber of commerce.
The retained lawyer can come up with literally hundreds more. Small
    wonder GE paid no taxes.
    ....me? Can't even deduct for
depreciation on my 70 year old
    body...

Depends on what you do not want to pay for. Social Security pays for itself through the SSI tax. Our debt, is spending not paid for, like the Iraq war and other unfunded spending.
Then we have to decide what kind of country and government services do we want, and how much are we willing to pay for that society.
The current debt is past spending and we must clear that debt, then cut.
